There is nowhere else in the world where two World Heritage Listed areas lie side by side. 80% of the Douglas Shire region is World Heritage Listed as the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest.

The Mossman Gorge is a unique part of the World Heritage Listed Daintree National Park and is just a 20 minute drive north of Port Douglas. The Mossman River cuts through the rainforest, flowing over huge granite boulders, and creating some spectacular and enchanting scenes. It is the perfect place for explorers to take a self-guided stroll through the rainforest or take a refreshing dip in the many natural frewhwater swimming holes. The trails are clearly signposted and maps are available at the Mossman Gorge Centre. This centre is the perfect hub to plan your experience of the gorge. The many facilities on offer include an art gallery, retail shop, café and restaurant, and shower facilities.
